Best MLB Division Series Moments- by AJ Foss The baseball postseason begins officially tomorrow with the best-of-five Division Series. The Division Series began in 1995 when Major League Baseball split into three divisions in both leagues and added a fourth playoff team in each league as the "Wild Card". While it has not been around as long as the League Championship Series or nowhere near the longetivity of the World Series, the MLB Division Series has produced some of the most memorable moments in recent baseball history. The Baseball Hall of Fame has grown to be held into almost religious-like regard. Players must receive what feels like a ridiculously high percentage of votes to be inducted and also must receive a minimum number just to stay eligible. MLB Power Rankings
This is our third week of MLB Major League Baseball Power Rankings. The first MLB stands for Midblockers Love Baseball. A midblocker is a fake baseball position that, when I created, was kind of funny at first. Then I repeated it because I'm persistent and it got annoying. Then it somehow got adopted by people other than myself and forever will be associated with baseball, WVBR, and our rivals (no, not our rival radio station). Anyhow, here it is. Black Cats, Goats, Lovable Losers, And Curses Aside, The Cubs Will Win The NL Pennant “Black cats, goats, lovable losers, and curses.” No, that is not a tagline to a Disney Channel Halloween movie, but rather the words that most sports fans throw out when talking about the Chicago Cubs. Everyone knows that it has been a while since the Cubs last won the World Series, 101 years to be exact. Last year they cruised through the regular season with a record of 97-64 (one postponed game against the Houston Astros was never made up), and then they were promptly swept by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first round of the playoffs. The Cubs are currently tied for 2nd place in the National League Central Division and have been nowhere near the same team they were last year, but they will still win the NL Pennant and appear in their first World Series since 1945.
